I’ve been taking some Jane Davenport workshops lately (great by the way) and my aim for 2013 is to work in my Art Journal every week. This is a drawing I did…..originally I wasn’t entirely happy with the shading of the face so I went ahead and put the white drips coming down over her face. I would not have been brave enough to do that if I had really loved the face but I’m so glad I did because I really love the overall effect it gave to the page.
Anyone else been bitten by the art journaling bug? Leave a link in the comment section…I’d love to see your work.

Sweet drawing Karen, love the vibrant colors. After years of admiring art journals I took the plunge in 2012. I love it and found it was a great way to express myself (big surprise huh?) I’m first a paper artist and teach rubber stamping. But the art journaling, like digi scraping, it something I do just for me. It took a while for me to find my style and I still have lots to learn but I do enjoy the process and find it very relaxing.
Karen, I too am glad that you were able to use the drips — great effect.
I have enrolled in a ton of classes in the past and finished exactly none of them! One of my goals for the year is to fix that. First up is a lettering class. I’m hoping it will make me a better designer. I like the aj pages I do now. They’re not in the typical AJ style, but they’re self- expression. They’re also often not what anyone else would think “wow” about. But that hasn’t been my goal. All that said, I’d be surprised if my pages didn’t change too as I finish up these classes… we’ll see
